Najib: One vote for BN, one vote for the future
Prime Minister Najib Razak said today he was optimistic that Malaysians would not gamble their future to the opposition as they were more confident with the BN government to continue helming the nation to achieve the country's vision to be a developed nation.
"Thank God, now the people (are seen) as having more confidence in the BN government. One vote for BN is one vote for the future. (If you) vote for the opposition, (the future) is uncertain," he said when speaking during a gathering with local leaders in the Pulau Manis state constituency at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Seri Damai's hall in Kuantan.
Najib said the BN government was a government that was always concerned about each and every problem faced by the people.
"If the people face difficulties, the government is concerned. Benevolent aid for the people (for example) is just the beginning, later we will give more, this is the concept of the BN government," he said.
Change could be for worse
Najib said the 1Malaysia People's Aid (BR1M), for example, could be given to the people because the government could manage the national finances well.
"If we do not plan systematically, we certainly will get a disappointing result. The opposition says it wants to make changes. Is the change for the better or worse? Not all changes will be for the better but could end up in disappointments," he said.
Najib said Malaysia had actually had achieved success on par with developed nations, which was recognised by other nations and certain international bodies.
"This can be seen in terms of the national administration, (Malaysia's) transformation agenda has gained the world's confidence and our competitiveness, according to the parties doing the rating, Malaysia is among 14 developing nations which are on par with developed nations," he said.
The prime minister said stories of the nation's success in numerous fields were not something that could be denied, on the other hand, they were proven through the recognition of large and international companies.
Proud of local companies
"Just a while ago, I flew on an aircraft to Kuantan on AirAsia because I want to give support to an airline whose brand has reached the international level.
“In the past, they used two ageing aircraft, now AirAsia has 145 aircraft. In the past they had 250 passengers, now 38 million (passengers). This is something we should be proud of," he said.
Najib said the first phase in the construction of the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT), which was expected to be completed at the end of 2016, also was among the examples of the success of the nation and the success of the BN government in managing and administering the nation.
"Yesterday, I saw the construction of the MRT. I am proud young Malaysian engineers are involved in a project of this size. It (MRT) will place Kuala Lumpur as an advanced city in the world. About 45 percent (of the project) is handled by local companies," he said.
Also present at the gathering which was attended by over 1,000 people was Pulau Manis assemblyman Khairuddin Mahmud.
