KUALA TERENGGANU, Jan 25 — PAS will field non-Muslim candidates from the Non-Muslim PAS Supporters Congress (DHPP) in the 13th general election following approval of the party’s Syura Council, said information chief Datuk Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man.
“This is the first time in our history we will be nominating DHPP members. They will contest in PAS seats,” he told reporters when met at the Kuala Ibai PAS Office, here today.
Launched on May 23, 2010, the DHPP, which was upgraded from the five-year-old PAS Supporters Club, has 35,000 members nationwide.
PAS made history in 12th general election when it fielded a first ever Indian candidate, Kumutha Raman, a law graduate, to contest the Ulu Tiram state seat in Johor.
Tuan Ibrahim said non-Muslim candidates should accept the PAS’ concept and struggle besides having good morals and behaviour. — Bernama
