Perkasa lodges 4 reports on 'distortion' of statement
Selangor Perkasa chief Abu Bakar Yahya said the organisation has lodged four reports at the police head quarters in Shah Alam today on the alleged distortion of Perkasa president Ibrahim Ali's statement on the use of the word 'Allah' in the Bible.
He claimed that the parties who had done so included a lawyer, who allegedly distorted Ibrahim's statement on an online news portal.
"Selangor Perkasa, Wira, Wiranita, Wirawati Perkasa lodged the police report today, requesting the authorities to investigate the distortions by these irresponsible parties," he said.
Yesterday, Ibrahim (left) was reported as claiming his statements on the issue had been twisted by certain parties for political gains and to weaken the struggle to defend Islam.
Ibrahim stressed that he had never intended to hurt the feelings of Christians and his statement was actually directed at an individual, who was previously reported to have distributed a Malay version of the Bible, which contained the word ‘Allah’ and Jawi writing, to school students.
‘Remark aimed at BM Bible’
Meanwhile in Bukit Mertajam, state Wira Perkasa head Mohd Rizuad Mohd Azudin claimed that the lawyer had made a report at the Dang Wangi police station last Wednesday alleging Perkasa was trying to fan hatred and incite the people over the matter.
"Ibrahim's statement referred to the Malay version of the Bible which was distributed in schools, with the word ‘Allah’ and Jawi writing, not the Bibles used by the Christians now," he told reporters after lodging a report at the North Perai police head quarters today.
Mohd Rizuad also denied that Perkasa was involved in the bible-burning event scheduled at Padang Bandaran Bagan Luar, Butterworth, this Sunday, saying they respected the other races and religions in this country.
