Aug 21: Questions have been asked over a proposal to take over the controversy-ridden Automatic Enforcement System (AES), and chief among them is whether the current service providers would be laughing to the bank after rewarded with huge compensation.
“No doubt, taking over the AES means a very high compensation would have to be paid to both companies,” said PAS vice president Mahfuz Omar, referring to Beta Tegap Sdn Bhd and ATES Sdn Bhd, the two companies involved in the setting up and management of the traffic policing system.
Mahfuz urged the government to reveal the amount of compensation should the proposal materialise.
The Pokok Sena MP, who has been leading PAS's Anti Postal Summons Campaign, also urged the government to reveal details of its agreement with the two companies.
