Parent arrested over Pristana HM 'death threat'
A parent whose child attends SK Seri Pristana was arrested this afternoon for allegedly issuing a “death threat” against the school headmaster Mohamad Nasir Mohd Nor (below).
Confirming the matter, Sungai Buloh police district chief Junaidi Bujang said the headmaster identified the parent in an identification parade at the police station this afternoon.
“He has been released on bail, and we are currently awaiting instructions from the deputy public prosecutor on the case,” he said when contacted.
Junaidi said that the parent was called in following the headmaster's police report on July 25, two days after the controversy over students being made to eat meals in a shower room broke out.
“In the police report, the headmaster claimed (the parent) came to the school and said, ‘you may be safe in school but it may not be the case outside of school’,” Junaidi said.
The parent also allegedly called the school several times over the course of a few days and uttered “harsh words” to the staff, after claiming that the headmaster had taken pictures of his child.
He added that the headmaster and two staff members had lodged police reports on the matter while other reports were lodged against the headmaster over the shower room case by other individuals.
“But we cannot arrest the headmaster for making students eat in an inappropriate place. It may be morally wrong, but it is not illegal,” he said.
Mohamad Nasir has since returned to duty after made to go on leave for one week.
The school said the shower room was converted into a meal room as the canteen was too small, and was used by non-Muslims during Ramadan as the canteen had been then under renovation.
