School, PIBG man deny molest incident

A senior teacher and a PIBG committee member have both denied that a student in a school in Damansara has been molested but differed in the details of the incident.
PETALING JAYA: A senior teacher has denied allegations that one of its Parent-Teachers Association (PIBG) committee members had molested a 16-year-old student in a school in Damansara.
The PIBG member also denied the allegations when contacted by FMT.
On Aug 12, the student’s mother lodged a second police report at the Petaling Jaya district police headquarters against the PIBG member, claiming that the police did not act on her first report lodged in March.
The incident was said to have happened in a secondary school in Damansara, where the PIBG member was alleged to have fondled the girl’s body in her classroom on a pretext of searching for a mobile phone.
The teacher, who spoke on a condition of anonymity, said the PIBG member saw the girl loitering outside the class with her friends while lessons were going on.
“He also saw her carrying a mobile phone. When the PIBG member called her, the girl ignored him and went back to her class,” she said.
She added that the PIBG member had then barged into the classroom and demanded the girl to surrender the mobile phone.
However, the girl denied carrying a mobile phone.
“The PIBG member suspected that the girl may have thrown the phone out of the window and went out to look for it.
“Feeling guilty, the girl took out the phone from her pocket and placed it on her table. So there was no body contact between them,” said the teacher.
She said the school had initiated their own inquiry and found that the students and the teacher were present during the incident.
However, the teacher admitted that the PIBG member was wrong in barging into the class to reprimand a student, adding that he should have informed the teacher of the matter.
“It’s just that the PIBG member is a disciplinarian who never tolerated students breaking school rules. For that, he is not well liked by the students.
“But we have told him many times not to interfere in the school’s daily affairs but he didn’t listen,” she said.
‘I never touched her’
When contacted, the PIBG member also denied molesting the student but differed in the details of the incident.
He said he only entered the class upon confirming that a teacher was present and told the girl to produce her mobile phone.
“And when she denied having the phone, I went outside to check whether she had thrown the phone away. That’s when the girl gave her phone to the teacher. I never touched her,” he said.
That same evening of the incident, the PIBG member said he was beaten up by the girl’s brother at a restaurant, for allegedly molesting the student.
“And I made a police report against the girl for accusing me of molesting her, as well as against her brother for assault,” he said.
He added that he had asked the school to form a committee to investigate the case.
“Since then, I have not attended any of the school meetings pending the investigation report. However, the school had done nothing to clear my name,” said the PIBG member.
He said he was planning to file a legal suit against the girl’s family for slander.
“This accusation has caused a lot of damage to me and my family. I must clear my name,” he said.
