KUALA LUMPUR - The government has postponed the second and third readings of 12 bills that were supposed to be debated during this parliamentary session.
Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Nancy Shukri, who tabled the motion this morning said the 12 bills will be brought for debate at the policy and committee stages at the next parliamentary session.
The next parliamentary session is expected to be at the end of this month when the government tables Budget 2014.
Among the 12 bills withdrawn are amendments to the Penal Code, Security Offences (Special Measure) Act, Prisons Act, Criminal Procedure Code, Evidence Act, Pool Betting Act and the Dangerous Drugs Act.
The controversial amendments to the Prevention of Crime Act was passed at 12.50am today after a marathon debate session by parliamentarians from both sides of the divide.
Parliament will adjourn later today.
