PAS Youth exco member Zulhazmi Shariff has resigned from his position after going "overboard" in his sarcastic criticism of PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang.
PAS Youth chief Suhaizan Kaiat (left) announced that Zulhazmi has "willingly apologised and resigned from his positions" following a controversial Facebook posting that illustrates the increasing gulf between two factions in PAS- one which is for Selangor Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim and one that sides with Pakatan Rakyat's opposition of him.
Yesterday, Zulhazmi, who previously ran for PAS Youth chief and lost, posted in his Facebook an "open letter" to Umno president Najib Abdul Razak.
"We request for you to change the Gua Musang MP (Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah) with the Marang MP (Hadi Awang) because we want to make the Gua Musang MP as our new prime minister," he posted.
Zulhazmi was referring to PAS' reported intentions to make Tengku Razaleigh, an Umno member, the new PM had Pakatan won last year's general elections.
Suhaizan described the criticism as "overboard" in his own Facebookposting today, and said that Zulhazmi had "voluntarily retracted the criticism".
The strife within PAS due to a faction backing their president Hadi Awang, and by extension, the embattled Khalid Ibrahim to remain as MB, has now led to an open clash of ideologies between the party's progressives and conservatives.
Zulhazmi also wrote in his Facebook page that some other PAS Youth members are "threatening" him and using "harsh words" against him.
