MYSTERIOUS CASE OF GANI PATAIL: SACKED BECAUSE HE WAS UNDER DR MAHATHIR'S THUMB?

MYSTERIOUS CASE OF GANI PATAIL: SACKED BECAUSE HE WAS UNDER DR MAHATHIR'S THUMB?
Every time there is an argument between the opposition and the government, I always look forward to a statement by Pakatan’s leader Datuk Seri Dr. Wan Azizah Wan Ismail. She never fails to make herself look more foolish with every comment. I was patiently waiting for the wise words of Dr. Wan Azizah following the Attorney-General’s dismissal of Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s accusations. Finally it came and it did not disappoint.
Dr. Wan Azizah finally confides that her husband Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim indeed is righteously jailed. Did she say those exact words? Not really. But she did insinuate that Tan Sri Abdul Gani Patail is clean and honest man by saying the outcome would have been different if Gani remained as the A-G.
During Anwar’s sodomy trial, the A-G’s prosecution team led by Gani submitted a scenario alleging that Anwar’s former speechwriter Munawar Anees boarded an overnight flight from Britain to Malaysia to be sodomised by Anwar and flew back to Britain after that. Gani was the main person behind exposing Anwar’s favourite mattress that was brought to court over twenty times.
With Dr. Wan Azizah’s sudden change of heart for Gani, is she admitting that Gani did not deceit during her husband’s sodomy trial? Does she actually know the truth that she is vouching for Gani all of a sudden because Gani does the right thing? Or is it the usual Pakatan way of justifying things where it is always wrong when things do not favour them?
Statutory declarations to oust Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim were okay, but SD’s to oust Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir is wrong. Formation of 1MDB is wrong but DEIG is okay. Saying anything against the opposition is labeled defamation but being convicted for criminal defamation with conclusive evidence is not. Having toll highways in Peninsular is wrong and the newly proposed toll-free borneo highway is also wrong. To-do or not to-do; either way is always wrong.
Former Kuala Lumpur Chief of Criminal Investigation Datuk Mat Zain Ibrahim revealed that Gani headed the prosecution division in 1994. Zain alleged that Gani was involved in covering up scandals such as RM 8 billion and RM 4 billion losses incurred by Malaysian Airlines (MAS) and Perwaja Steel respectively. Zain repeatedly called for a Royal Commission of Inquiry to investigate Gani. There are no prizes for guessing who was the Prime Minister behind all those cover-ups.
In the not so distant past, Dato Ramli Yusoff who was the Director of Commercial Crimes made strong recommendations to the then Prime Minister Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi to prosecute Tan Sri Tajuddin Ramli for offences relating to MAS. However, before Badawi could react, Gani stripped Ramli Yusoff of his rank, suspended and charged him in court. The court acquitted Ramli and Gani then tried hard to pursue an appeal on preventing Ramli from being reinstated and receiving his pension. Again, it is not difficult to guess why Gani was so offensive as we all know whose crony Tajuddin Ramli is.
During the 1MDB saga, remember how Sarawak Report published secret draft sheet documents alleging that Gani (who was still AG) was at the brink of pressing charges for corruption? Ultimately, the supposed “draft” was proven to be a hoax beyond reasonable doubt.
Gani’s removal as the AG was not because he was on the brink of charging Najib, but instead it was because Gani dances to Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad’s tunes. Now that Pakatan has found a new friend in Mahathir, perhaps that is the reason Gani has suddenly become the man who could have made a change.
I wonder what has Dr. Wan Azizah got to say about Gani’s past? Was Gani right with what he did with her husband? If he was wrong and he lied, then he deserves to be fired, Dr. Wan Azizah. - MAILBAG
