1MDB report under OSA means there is much to hide

YOURSAY | ‘Our gov’t has clearly showed that it is trying very hard to hide the truth.’
Anonymous_1421806811: It surprises me that despite the overwhelming desperate need by the Malaysian public to want to know the truth surrounding the debt-ridden 1MDB, our government is trying its best to present only its side of the story; so much so that the public is turning to alternative media sources to get more information.
The problem is compounded when our ministers provided unsatisfactory denials to the alternative and foreign media accusations without showing any strong will of taking concrete action against such media, especially Wall Street Journal and Sarawak Report.
Our government has clearly showed that it is trying very hard to hide the truth so that one man can still retain his job.
Hopefully, when the truth is revealed one day, all these desperadoes will end up in Sungai Buloh.
Anonymous_1408265047: This is, of course, confirmation that there is much to hide and that all the previous WSJ reports are obviously correct.
The role of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) is to be the people's watchdog and ensure that there are no cover-ups by the government.
So here’s congratulations to the government for having successfully managed a massive cover-up and perverted the role of the PAC and its duty to report to the Parliament.
They might as well disband the PAC now because there is no further useful purpose for it.
YF: A Public Accounts Committee is not able to show in public the findings of public servants? It's like saying public toilets are not meant for the public.
What kind of silly Umno logic is this? If you Umno peons are not working for the public, then please leave public services - or even better, leave the country.
Lost Test Eagles: This is a slap on the face for the Conference of Rulers after their decree that investigations into 1MDB are to be reported in a transparent manner, and any guilty parties be brought to account.
By classifying this probe under the Official Secrets Act (OSA), auditor-general Ambrin Buang is apparently mocking the Conference of Rulers.
Clongviews: There is plenty to hide and, of course, plenty to write.
This committee is a toothless tiger; PAC deputy chairperson Tan Seng Giaw and company should abstain from the meetings in protest.
Just_A_Rakyat: Will someone please advise the deputy chairperson on what the ‘PAC’ acronym stands for? Perhaps he thinks it is his own private accounts committee.
What a farce this is - if you are not prepared for public scrutiny then why have this committee at all?
EmEmKay: As a Malaysian, I adhere to the federal constitution and the Rukunegara. I am a taxpayer and a voter, too.
I have every right to know all the deliberations in Parliament as well as the proceedings of the PAC.
Drngsc: 1MDB does not run on Umno’s or Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak’s private money. It is our money and we have a right to know as the rakyat.
This government has gone too far. They have worked on the report for so long, yet they still cannot explain this issue adequately.
There can be no taxation without transparent representation. If you do not explain to me how you have been spending my money, then you do not deserve my tax money.
Victor Johan: Next, are they going to classify the annual auditor-general's report to the Parliament under OSA so that parliamentarians won't be able to discuss it with their constituents, or even view the said report?
Or perhaps, they would be allowed to debate it in Parliament but have they sworn a secrecy oath - thus keeping the constituents and the public ignorant of the economic spending and welfare of our country?
The Mask: Guilty as charged. No doubt about it. Otherwise why classify it under OSA? They must have plenty to hide.
Does the auditor-general have so much power as to classify whatever not favourable to the government under OSA?
If they don’t reveal the findings, then of course there will be speculation. So how now, Communication and Multimedia Minister Salleh Said Keruak?
Headhunter: We all know why it is classified under the OSA - there is simply too much dirt in it.
Had the report exonerated Najib, they would have gone to town with it - and newspapers like Utusan Malaysia, New Straits Times and The Star would surely be trumpeting on like they have struck the lottery.
Gggg: So much for “nothing to hide”. -Mkini
