After Anwar alliance, Mahathir can now die in peace, says MyKMU

Former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad can now die in peace, having sealed an alliance with his former estranged deputy Anwar Ibrahim and bridged the long-running feud between the two camps, pro-Najib portal MyKMU said today.
"We give thanks to God that in his 90s, Mahathir can one day depart the earth in peace, without the stigma of the legacy of the politics of extreme hate between the two parties."
This, noted the portal, is after 18 years of conflict and politics of hate between the two camps, which, it claimed, is perhaps the longest-running feud between fellow Malays in the country.
"Today, Mahathir and Anwar's proxy Azmin Ali together signed an accord to topple Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak," read the MyKMU article.
The portal snidely added that no one would have thought the mighty Mahathir would kneel to his number one political enemy, Anwar, just to fulfil this political whim in his sunset years.
"This is an historic moment, for despite the lambast and attacks Mahathir once levelled against Anwar, the former DPM still stands tall in national politics. And while he is now languishing behind bars, he still managed to cow Mahathir," it wrote.
It said that once it would be unthinkable for an effort for a change of leadership in Umno to involve a pact with the opposition, pointing out that such means was strongly opposed by Mahathir's own supporters.
The portal said while the ex-premier left the party in 2008, and opposition leaders were present in some of the programmes he conducted, Mahathir never entered into cooperation with the opposition.
"Today the new generation of Mahathir supporters no longer care about all this. The life and soul of the party has been sold for the sake of power and ego," said the unnamed author of the article.
However, MyKMU added that this may be a positive development for Malays and Islam as in the end, Malays, who once hated each other because of what Mahathir did to Anwar, are now united under the same roof yet once again.
And while Najib may be seen by many to be the bad guy in this story, MyKMU noted that yet once again the PM can be credited for playing “peacemaker”.
"Thus, is Najib not just the peace broker for the Bangsa Moro (in the Philippines) and district of Pattani (in Thailand) but he has now successfully united the two Malay groups - Mahathir's and Anwar's - from continuing to fight and hate each other, for power's sake?" asked the portal. -Mkini
