Kini Roundup: CM gives a house tour while Zahid dangles cash

A recap of major headlines yesterday you may have missed.
Guan Eng’s bungalow brouhaha continues
BN’s Tasik Gelugor MP Shabudin Yahya, who accused Penang Chief Minister of buying a bungalow at a steep discount as part of kickback, refused Lim’s invitation to meet and discuss the issue over coffee.

Lim Guan Eng when asked by media when he would conduct a tour, says, ‘Right now’.

So instead, Lim gave the media a tour of the Jalan Pinhorn bungalow, showing reporters his living room, dining hall and kitchen – but this failed to convince minister Abdul Rahman Dahlan, MIC’s S Vell Paari and deputy minister Reezal Merican of his innocence.
Abdul Rahman and Reezal said Lim’s house tour was just a gimmick while Vell Paari thinks the allegedly house price discount is a ploy to evade taxes.
Zahid runs down ‘that oldie’, lives up to ‘cash is king’
Umno vice-president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi tells Selangor Umno members to ignore a certain “old book” spewing “old tales”, making direct references to Dr Mahathir Mohamad without stating the ex-Umno leader’s name.
However, Zahid illustrated Mahathir’s “cash is king” criticism of Umno under president Najib Abdul Razak, by bumping up a cash prize for the branch that registers the most number of voters and members from RM5,000 to RM50,000.

How Save Malaysia plans to unseat Najib
DAP’s Kluang MP and party strategist Liew Chin Tong details how the Save Malaysia coalition must act now to build momentum before the political lull during Ramadan in June, and use the Sarawak state elections to convince the state BN to withdraw support for Najib.
This could lead to BN’s Sarawak MPs siding with opposition MPs in a vote of no-confidence against the PM, Liew said in an interview with Malaysiakini.
Other Kini bites: Ikatan, billboards and ‘penghasut’ extraordinaire
PAS’ new ally Ikatan says Najib should stay as he has a strong mandate.
PKR tells inspector-general of police Khalid Abu Bakar to resign and join a local council if he wants to regulate billboards, after Khalid tells local councils to take down billboards campaigning for jailed PKR leader Anwar Ibrahim’s freedom.
Activist and graphic artist Fahmi Reza – the man behind the clown-faced Najib caricatures - talks about how he got into the business of sparking rebellions.
Looking ahead:
Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin will hold a press conference today on the senior ministry staff arrested for graft of RM100 million last week.
Former Kedah menteri besar Mukhriz Mahathir will be on a Johor-wide roadshow all day, capping off with a ceramah with Umno deputy president Muhyiddin Yassin in Kota Tinggi tonight.
The turnout in the Umno stronghold state could indicate how the political tide will turn in the coming weeks. -Mkini
