KUALA LUMPUR: The government will still implement the additional salary increment for 1.4 million civil servants on July 1 as promised in the 2016 Budget, said Chief Secretary to the Government Ali Hamsa.
He said the minimum salary of RM1,200 a month for civil servants would also be implemented on the same date.
“The government also stresses that no civil servant’s services will be terminated, including those appointed on contract,” he said when closing the Civil Servant Housing Convention themed “Dream House Ensures Quality Of Life” here today.
He said all these initiatives proved the commitment of the government to the welfare of the people, including civil servants, despite the challenging economic scenario.
Present were Congress of Unions for Employees in the Public and Civil Service (Cuepacs) President Azih Muda and Malaysian National Cooperative Movement (Angkasa) President Abdul Fattah Abdullah.
Ali said the government was also very much concerned over the welfare of civil servants and implemented housing programmes, such as 1Malaysia Civil Servants Housing (PPA1M), introduced in 2013.
“To date, 300 houses costing RM90,000 each have been approved for construction and they are especially for those earning less that RM1,200 a month. The government will conduct a review so that more from this group can own houses.”
He said to date, 48,695 units under PPA1M had been approved and were in various stages of implementation.
Azih handed over a list of 15 resolutions to Ali for the government to review the 2011 National Housing Policy.
Among the resolutions, which were the result of discussions between Cuepacs and Angkasa, included ensuring all civil servants, especially in the B40/M40 group, could own their own homes to ensure a better quality of life, creating a land bank and a national housing data bank.

  1. 300 houses is very little when compared to the number of civil staff paid less than 1200 pm. Can u make more houses and quickly.
