The lawful authorities and various reputable international publications have confirmed these funds came from Saudi Arabia.
KUALA LUMPUR: 1MDB has said that despite the company consistently maintaining that it has not paid any funds into the personal accounts of Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak, the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) “continues to repeat the same disproven allegations”.
“This – the company’s stand — has been reiterated by multiple lawful authorities including the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), the Attorney-General (AG), and various reputable international publications, who have confirmed that these funds came from Saudi Arabia,” said the statement from 1MDB.
However, said 1MDB, not once has the publication (WSJ) offered any conclusive evidence to support its claims. “The only justification for their continued attacks is information that they claim to have obtained from unnamed and anonymous sources.”
This reliance on anonymous sources, who may or may not exist, betrays a lack of basic journalistic standards on the part of WSJ, said 1MDB. “The publication has lost all semblance of balanced reporting.”
