Former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad has suggested that Malaysians hold a peaceful rally to demand the resignation of Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak.
"Malaysians are timid. In other countries, millions take to the streets. Malaysians are very nice, we don't normally hold such (protests).
"I think we should have a peaceful rally to demand for the removal of the (prime minister)," he told a press conference in Putrajaya today.
Former Bersih chairperson Ambiga Sreenevasan, who was also present, then added that the election watchdog is considering this.
Mahathir called for the peaceful rally following the damning allegations contained in the US Department of Justice’s civil suits to seize assets allegedly acquired by siphoning funds from 1MDB.
