KANGAR — The Raja of Perlis Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Putra Jamalullail received former Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin at Istana Arau on Friday on the basis of their old friendship, the Office of the Raja of Perlis’ Principal Private Secretary said in a statement here today.
The statement said the meeting had nothing to do with the business of a political party.
“During the meeting, the Raja of Perlis consented to grant his (Tan Sri Muhyiddin) entourage’s wish to snap photographs before they left,” said the statement.
The statement was issued in response to a photograph that was uploaded on the Facebook of a political party with the caption ‘Among the Rulers who support our struggle’.
The picture was later taken out of the Facebook site of the party.
On Friday, Muhyiddin and an entourage from Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) had visited Perlis. Muhyiddin, who was sacked as Deputy Prime Minister and Umno deputy president, is the president of the newly-formed opposition party.
