Zahid Hamidi says leaders of BN parties, Friends of BN and other NGOs should counter false allegations, rather than just keep quiet.
KAJANG: Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi today called on all Barisan Nasional (BN) component parties to counter political missiles fired and targeted at them in view of the 14th General Election (GE14).
The Umno vice-president, who is carrying out the duties of deputy president, said this in light of the many politically-motivated allegations, that he likened to political missiles, being hurled to defame the BN government, its leaders and component parties.
“In these situations, the leaders of BN component parties, Friends of BN or non-governmental organisations should stand up and counter these allegations, rather than just keep quiet.”
He said this to reporters after attending the closing of the 24th Indian Progressive Front (IPF) General Assembly here today.
Zahid said the close ties among BN component party leaders would enable them to counter the political missiles fired by their enemies, including the allegation that the government had brought in and granted citizenship to 700,000 foreign workers, which he stressed was untrue.
“We have to counter their attacks. The close ties between our leaders are the key foundations to counter the attacks that come our way.
“I’m sure the people will not fall so easily for those lies and allegations,” he said. -FMT
