Man suspected of outraging girl’s modesty detained

The suspect is alleged to have groped the victim's buttocks and tried to embrace her.

KUALA LUMPUR: Police detained a man who was suspected to have outraged the modesty of a 15-year-old girl in Balakong on Thursday.

Kajang police chief ACP Othman Nanyan said in the incident at about 4pm, the girl had gone to a shopping centre in Cheras Selatan with three friends. The girl then realised that she had accidentally left her handbag in the car and went to fetch it.

While going to the car, the victim claimed that she was followed by a man who later groped her buttocks.

“The girl screamed while running away from the man who attempted to embrace her. The girl sought her friends’ help and asked for assistance from a security guard who contacted the police,” he said when contacted by Bernama.

Police later detained the 26-year-old man and took him to the Kajang district police headquarters for further action, he said, adding that the man was remanded for three days until tomorrow. -FMT
