KOTA BARU: All prayers including Friday prayers as well as all activities at mosques and surau will be allowed, except for those in locations in the state which are currently under the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO).

Kelantan Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIK) president Tengku Tan Sri Mohamad Rizam Tengku Abdul Aziz said despite the leeway given, Muslims in the state must however adhere to the standard operating procedures (SOP) strictly.

He said the locations that had their CMCO extended until Dec 20 are Kota Baru, Kubang Kerian and Kusial in the Penggawa district.

'However, no activities are allowed at all surau and mosques surrounding Beliau Madrasah Ad-Diniah, Kampung Huma in Pasir Putih, which is still under the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO).

At the same time, the closure of all surau and mosques near the Kubang Kerian Palace as well as Mengketil cluster areas remains unchanged until further notice.

"The Sultan of Kelantan Sultan Muhammad V, as the state religious head, had consented to the matter," said Tengku Mohamad Rizam, who is also Tengku Temenggong Kelantan.

The CMCO imposed in four Kelantan districts will end earlier than scheduled, except in two areas in Penggawa.

Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said yesterday that the CMCO in Kota Baru, Machang, Tanah Merah and Pasir Mas will end today instead of Dec 20.

However, the CMCO remains in Kubang Kerian, Kota Baru and Kusial, Tanah Merah.

In a statement, Ismail Sabri said the Health Ministry confirmed that Covid-19 cases in all four districts have showed a drastic downward trend and are now under control.- NST
