BUKIT MERTAJAM: The wife of Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) football star Muhammad Syafiq Ahmad has been transferred to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital (HKL) for further treatment.
Nur Amalina Nurain, 25, is reported to be in stable condition and has been transferred to enable specialists at HKL to continue to monitor her condition until she is fully recovered.
She was first treated by specialists at the Seberang Jaya Hospital (HSJ) here after the horrific accident that took the lives of her 22-day-old son, Muhammad Aisy Saqeef, her mother Zainab Wahab, 45, and Indonesian maid Titik Sukamti, 42.
“Nur Amalina was transferred to HKL at 6.30 am. My family and I including Syafiq will go to HKL today to be with Nur Amalina until she recovers and is discharged from the hospital,” said Muhammad Syafiq’s father, Ahmad Ibrahim, 56.
“She is getting better and is in stable condition. She is not in a serious condition,” he said when contacted here today.
Meanwhile, he said Muhammad Syafiq had denied dozing off at the wheel before the accident early Sunday morning. Instead, his eldest son said he was trying to avoid something which caused him to lose control of the Toyota Vellfire he was driving.
Ahmad said Muhammad Syafiq also told him that before the incident, he was talking to Nur Amalina, who was sitting in the front passenger seat.
“Our family is upset and saddened by the report that Muhammad Syafiq is believed to have fallen asleep at the wheel. He (Muhammad Syafiq) also went to the Jawi District Police Headquarters yesterday to have his statement recorded,” he said.
Muhammad Syafiq, 25, was driving from Johor Bahru together with his wife and children, heading to his in-laws’ village in Pendang, Kedah, when they met with an accident at 5.36 am last Sunday.
