Tourists from Brunei allowed to enter Sabah - Masidi

The National Security Council today agreed with the proposal from the Sabah government to allow tourists from Brunei to enter the state, said Sabah Local Government and Housing Minister Masidi Manjun.

He said the tourists are allowed to enter by land or air and they need to undergo the Covid-19 screening test as stipulated in the standard operating procedures (SOP) of the conditional movement control order of the state.

“The reason why we are allowing visitors from Brunei is that the country is not in the enforced entry ban list and it has no new Covid-19 cases for the last 215 days. The move is also expected to boost Sabah’s economy.

“For other countries, we will consider from time to time on a case-by-case basis. We are opening up borders cautiously, knowing a mistake would make the Covid-19 situation out of control again,” he told a press conference.

Today, Sabah recorded a total of 203 new Covid-19 cases, out of 959 cases nationwide.
