The Malay rulers from across the country have gathered at Istana Negara for a Conference of Rulers special meeting.
The meeting is expected to start at 2.30pm.
On the agenda today are discussions on the input from political leaders who the king met over the past week.
Comptroller of the Royal Household Ahmad Fadil Shamsuddin said experts from government agencies will also brief the rulers on issues related to health, security, politics and the economy.
According to The Star, Inspector-General of Police Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani is among those at the palace.
All eyes have been on Istana Negara since last Monday as news broke out that the king had granted audience to the political leaders two months before the emergency is set to expire on Aug 1.
Last Thursday, former prime minister and Parti Pejuang Tanah Air (Pejuang) founder Dr Mahathir Mohamad revealed that he had mooted the idea of a National Operation Council (NOC), also known as Mageran, when he was granted an audience by the Agong. He also offered his “services” for the NOC if it is formed.
However, he said the Agong was of the opinion that such a proposal (NOC) should only come from the government.
Meanwhile, according to Pakatan Harapan, the independent committee advising the king on when to end the emergency has not finalised any decisions yet. - Mkini
