KUALA LUMPUR: People should be allowed to get their Covid-19 vaccination first and register under the MySejahtera app later, says Datuk Mohd Azis Jamman.
The Sepanggar MP said that in Labuan, people had received Covid-19 vaccine doses without going through the MySejahtera application.
"I believe the move has allowed more people in Labuan to be vaccinated. Why can't we implement such a system and expand it nationwide," he said in the Dewan Rakyat on Wednesday (July 28).
Labuan has vaccinated 54,800 of the 68,500 adults listed as eligible under the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme and is the first among the federal territories to achieve herd immunity with 80% of its adult population being fully vaccinated.
"I am confident it will expedite the country's vaccination plan," said Mohd Azis.
The lawmaker added that Sabah is facing various issues that are delaying the state's vaccination process, including infrastructure and transportation challenges.
"My other question is, why are those who had already registered under MySejahtera still waiting for appointment dates. Until today, many of them have yet to receive their first Covid-19 vaccine dose," he said - Star
