PETALING JAYA: Malaysians extended birthday wishes to Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah (pic, courtesy of Istana Negara) as the Yang di-Pertuan Agong turned 62.
Most took to social media to convey their greetings to the nation’s 16th King yesterday, wishing him a long and healthy life.
Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin uploaded a message on his official Facebook page with the caption “Daulat Tuanku”.
Other political leaders also wished the King a happy birthday on their social media pages, including former prime ministers Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and Datuk Seri Najib Razak, Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Transport Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan, Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri M. Saravanan and Bagan MP Lim Guan Eng.
“May Tuanku continue to rule with justice and fairness. All the people and I will continue to give our undivided obedience and loyalty,” said Anwar.
Dr Wee posted the congratulatory message on his Facebook page while many Malaysians also conveyed their wishes to the King on the Istana Negara official Facebook page.Sultan Abdullah, who is from Pahang, ascended the throne on Jan 31, 2019.
Earlier, the Yang di-Pertuan Agong decreed that events in conjunction with his birthday be postponed in view of the Covid-19 pandemic.
On the Istana Negara Facebook page, many Malaysians also extended their wishes to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, who is the sixth Sultan of Pahang.
Amira Myra said she hoped that God would bless Sultan Abdullah and his family with good health.
“The rakyat prays for the well-being of Tuanku and the Queen,” she said.
Paskulim Pasku said that he had never been to Istana Negara but that if he could, it would be the memory of a lifetime.
“May Tuanku be blessed with longevity together with the Queen and the children,” he said. - Star
