PETALING JAYA: PKR Youth has lodged police reports against Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin, law minister Takiyuddin Hassan and Attorney-General Idrus Harun for “disobeying the Yang di-Pertuan Agong”.
Its secretary, Syukri Razab, said the reports – lodged by the youth members in several states – also mentioned the “misleading statements” made by the government with regard to the revocation of the emergency ordinances (EOs) as of July 21.
“PKR Youth upholds the principles of the Federal Constitution,” he said, adding that the reports had been lodged since yesterday.
“Among the PKR Youth (chapters) that lodged police reports yesterday were Perlis, Penang, Perak, Kelantan, Pahang, Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka and Johor.
“Sarawak, Terengganu, Kedah and the federal territories will lodge reports today.”
Syukri said the police must state the number of police reports received on this issue as well as inform when an investigation will begin.
“We want a transparent police investigation because the people have witnessed ‘treason’ by the Perikatan Nasional,” he said.
Yesterday, in a rare rebuke, Istana Negara said law minister Takiyuddin Hassan had misled MPs in announcing the revocation of the EOs. It said the King was aggrieved because he had not yet given his consent for the revocation.
According to the palace, the King told Takiyuddin and Idrus, during a virtual audience, that the revocation of the ordinances should be tabled and debated in Parliament. - FMT
