Azmin Ali today expressed his appreciation to the new Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob for reappointing him as the senior minister for international trade and industries.
In a statement, the Bersatu MP for Gombak also vowed his commitment to continue fulfilling his duties.
"We must continue this momentum and ensure that the nation’s economy advances towards a trajectory of positive growth and sustainable recovery.
"Hence, there must be no let-up in the execution of economic stimulus efforts that have been introduced and are essential to maintain GDP growth, create new jobs, and attract further foreign direct investments.
"As we progress towards recovery, we must ensure that the people possess the necessary resources to achieve economic dignity and participate actively and gainfully again in the nation’s vibrant growth.
"In this regard, our socio-economic policies must be bold in design and delivery to generate wealth for the rakyat, so that the prosperity is equitably shared," he said.
This is the second time Azmin has been appointed as a senior minister, and into his third tenure in a federal government cabinet.
The first time he became a minister was in 2018 when Pakatan Harapan won the 14th general election.
Meanwhile, Sarawakian MP Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, who has been appointed as the de facto law minister, wants to use the chance to bring about parliamentary reforms and to make the legal structure in the government to be "more current" and relevant to suit today's political landscape.
He also vowed to use the opportunity to give priority to looking after the rights of the people in Sabah and Sarawak.
Wan Junaidi commended Ismail Sabri for the structure of the new cabinet where there are "many familiar faces", saying that the prime minister wants to ensure continuity of efforts that are already in place.
"Although some have been reassigned to new portfolios, I am indeed glad to see many familiar faces from the previous cabinet line-up have been retained, an indication that the premier wants to see continuity on efforts that have already been put in place, namely on three areas of priority – fighting Covid-19, reviving the economy as well as taking care of the rakyat’s well-being.
"Nevertheless, be it old or new, it is clear that those handpicked to spearhead the ministries certainly have no time to spare as we have been given 100 days to produce results upon assuming their duties.
"The premier is indeed serious when he says that this new cabinet line-up serves as his management team to work with the people," he said.

Similarly, former federal territories minister Annuar Musa is also thankful to the prime minister for appointing him as the new communications and multimedia minister.
“I would like to express my highest gratitude and appreciation for the prime minister’s trust in choosing me to be in his cabinet.
“The trust and confidence given to me is a huge regard towards me, the people in Ketereh constituency and to Umno and Barisan Nasional, which I represent,” the Ketereh MP said in a statement shortly after the PM’s announcement of his cabinet line-up.
Annuar (above) said he hopes to work closely with the people and agencies under the ministry, and promised to lead the ministry towards a better future.
“I am committed to charting the direction of the ministry to be more proactive and contribute to the country’s development so that all of the ‘Malaysian Family’ will enjoy the benefits,” he said.
The relationship between Annuar and his party, Umno, was previously seen as strained after he was sacked as Barisan Nasional’s secretary-general for his reported remarks that were perceived as being more friendly towards Bersatu.
Saratok MP Ali Biju also expressed his gratitude to the prime minister for re-appointing him as the deputy energy and natural resources minister.
“I am most appreciative of his trust and confidence in me to continue my service to the nation in the same ministry, which I am most familiar with,” Ali said in a statement shortly after the Ismail unveiled his cabinet line-up.

Ali was previously serving in the same position during former prime minister Muhyiddin Yassin’s administration until Muhyiddin resigned last week due to his loss of confidence among the MPs.
Now given a second opportunity, Ali pledged to again work, untiringly and to serve the nation responsibly.
He added that he would now work closely with Takiyuddin Hassan, who was switched from his law minister portfolio to head the Energy and Natural Resources Ministry.
“There is still much work to be done and I am more than ready to serve. The PM’s decision to maintain continuity in many ministries bodes well for the nation, including the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources,” he said.
Ali and Takiyuddin will be sworn in officially the coming Monday at the Istana Negara, along with all the other appointed cabinet members.
This is the third government Ali has served within two years, the first during his time as a PKR’s vice-president, although without a cabinet position under the Pakatan Harapan administration from 2018 to 2020.
He then resigned from PKR and switched allegiance to Bersatu during the Sheraton Move, culminating in the fall of Harapan and the rise of the Perikatan Nasional (PN) government under Muhyiddin’s helm.
Ali was absorbed into the new administration, which lasted 17 months under Muhyiddin, until its eventual collapse recently. - Mkini
