Penang Health Department director Dr Asmayani Khalib has been appointed as Health deputy director-general (medical), effective today.
Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, when announcing the appointment in a post on his Facebook account, said that Asmayani is replacing Dr Norhizan Ismail who is retiring today.
“All the best in carrying out the duties and trust, and the excellence of the Health Ministry (MOH) medical programmes will continue,” Noor Hisham, who also conveyed his congratulations to Asmayani on her appointment.
Previously served as the director of the Penang Health Department since 2019, Asmayani has also served as the director of the National Cancer Institute (NCI), director of Kulim Hospital and senior principal assistant director of the Medical Development Division of the MOH.
She has also worked in several hospitals and health facilities over the years, namely, Kuala Kubu Bharu Hospital and Kajang Hospital (Selangor), Perak Health Department and Taiping Hospital (Perak), Penang Hospital and Bukit Mertajam Hospital (Penang), and Jengka Hospital in Pahang.
