Firm promoted by MySejahtera for Covid-19 self-test kits suspends sales

Pharma2U, a relatively new e-commerce platform being promoted by the MySejahtera application as the go-to portal for purchasing Covid-19 self-test kits, has suspended sales of the items.

This was after the Malaysian Pharmacists Society lodged a complaint with the Health Ministry claiming that it was an abuse of MySejahtera's dominant position.

Furthermore, the pharmacists' group also complained that Pharma2U was not a registered pharmacist nor was it approved to sell Covid-19 self-testing kits, in line with the Health Ministry's guidelines.

Following the complaint, Pharma2U today put up a notice on its e-commerce portal.

"The self-test kits are not available for online sales temporarily.

"The merchants for these self-test kits, Salixium, Gmate, Juschek, LongSee, All Test and Beright are working with the relevant authorities on ensuring they are available as soon as possible," it said.

Pharma2u added that it will follow up with customers who have already placed orders.

MySejahtera still links to Pharma2u as the sole platform for the acquisition of Covid-19 self-testing kits.

The Malaysian Pharmacists Society had asked MySejahtera to instead include a map to direct the public to their nearest community pharmacy.

According to the Health Ministry's guidelines, only licensed community pharmacy premises or healthcare facilities approved by the Medical Device Authority (MDA) are allowed to provide sales of Covid-19 self-testing kits. - Mkini
