KPJ Damansara Specialist Hospital in Petaling Jaya, Selangor today said they are extending additional support to the family of a Covid-19 patient whose hospitalisation bill went viral recently.
In a statement, the company said they have a "respectful and compassionate" relationship with patients and their families.
"This is to clarify on the matter relating to a medical bill for treatment involving an extended period of care in Intensive Care Unit (ICU) which is generally uncommon that has been circulating on one of the popular messaging platforms.
"Rest assured that we are providing the best of care to all our patients and extending additional support to the family.
"KPJ Damansara is committed to the highest safety standards involving the public, its customers, and employees. We remain guided by the guidelines, expectations, and regulations of the Ministry of Health," the statement read.
This came after a photograph of the hospitalisation bill, bearing the company's letterhead, was circulated on social media the past few days.
The document showed a patient was purportedly charged a total of RM346,182.48 by the hospital, upon receiving treatment for Covid-19 including 46 days in the hospital's ICU.
The name of the patient and other details that can lead to identification were redacted from the photo. - Mkini
