PETALING JAYA: Eleven areas in Sabah, Perak, Kedah and Pahang will be placed under a two-week lockdown from Monday (Aug 23), the National Security Council said.
The director-general of national security, Rodzi Md Saad, said there had been an increase of Covid-19 cases in these areas.
The lockdowns under the enhanced movement control order (EMCO) are scheduled to end on Sept 5.
The areas are:
Sabah:
Four localities in Tawau – Taman Thien Vin, Taman Victoria, Taman King Fook and Kampung Kurnia, Batu 4; two localities in Beluran – Kampung Sulit Paitan and Kampung Matanggal Lama; Sandakan – PPR Taman Mesra.
Perak:
Pulau Pangkor – Pelantar Sungai Pinang Kecil; Tapah prisons including staff quarters.
Kedah:
Pokok Sena prisons including staff quarters.
Pahang:
Kampung Telamin, Lipis.
The lockdowns in two areas in Pahang (Kampung Orang Asli Sungai Bot, Bentong) and Sabah (Taman Semarak Indah, Tawau, and Kampung Tanjung Kapor, Kudat) will be extended from Monday until Sept 5.
Rodzi said the EMCO for Felda Jengka 7, Maran in Pahang will be lifted today while the lockdown in Jalan Feri Lama, Rompin as well as Felda Jengka 18 and Kampung Paya Besar will end tomorrow, as well as those in parts of Sabah, namely Tawau (Flat Sri Semarak, Taman Sejati), Penampang (Kampung Koidupan, Kampung Guunsing-Novunsu), Sipitang (Kampung Marau) and Papar (Kampung Baru Kimanis). - FMT
