The Fire and Rescue Department assisted in removing the body of a 41-year-old man who died at home after catching Covid-19 from his under-quarantine siblings.
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department director Norazam Khamis said his personnel were called in after the victim's family members tried to wake him up at 12.30pm yesterday but he was unresponsive.
"The family was informed that the victim had difficulty breathing at around 5.30am yesterday before they found him unconscious at 12.30pm and suspected he had died," Norazam was quoted as saying by Berita Harian.
The Fire and Rescue Department's report said two of the man's siblings were infected with Covid-19 and under home quarantine.
The victim also tested positive for the virus on July 29 and was placed under home quarantine as well.
He was not known to have suffered from any comorbidities.
The Fire and Rescue Department sent personnel in personal protective equipment (PPE) to retrieve the man's body from his Petaling Jaya home and handed it over to the police.
The body was retrieved at 9.26pm.
The number of people who died from Covid-19 before they could receive treatment has been on the rise, particularly in the Klang Valley.
Malaysia saw a record 142 brought in dead (BID) cases in the week of July 18-24. More than half (74) were from Selangor.
A majority of them died even before they knew they had Covid-19. - Mkini
