A man was arrested after trying to bribe RM10,000 in cash to the police to release his two friends who were arrested on suspicion of being involved in drug trafficking in front of a hotel in Jinjang, Kuala Lumpur, yesterday.
Sentul police chief ACP Beh Eng Lai said the 28-year-old suspect had earlier been warned against it but ignored it, causing him to be arrested and handed over to the MACC along with evidence.
The man was arrested at 7.45pm the same night under the MACC Act 2009.
“Earlier, two of his friends were arrested in a raid at 3.45pm in front of a hotel in Jinjang on suspicion of being involved in drug trafficking and police found 10 plastic packets containing 130.5gm of cannabis, estimated to be worth RM13,000.
"The urine test conducted also found that the first suspect was positive for methamphetamine and cannabis besides having 25 criminal and seven drug-related criminal records, while the second suspect was negative and had no criminal record," he said in a statement today.
Beh said the two suspects are remanded for seven days until Aug 10 and the case was being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act.
