GEORGE TOWN: Penang chief minister Chow Kon Yeow was questioned by police today over his participation in a rally at Dataran Merdeka to call for the reopening of Parliament and the resignation of Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin and his Cabinet.
The Tanjong MP said a team of officers from the northeast district police headquarters took his statement at Komtar here this morning.
In a statement, Chow said the questioning began at 10am and took 45 minutes.
A nationwide police probe has begun on opposition MPs who attempted to march to Parliament on Aug 2.
The last day of the special five-day Parliament sitting, scheduled for Aug 2, was postponed on the advice of the health ministry following the spread of Covid-19 cases among the staff and MPs.
According to Bernama, 35 MPs have had their statements taken as of yesterday. - FMT
