PETALING JAYA: Pharmaniaga Bhd has acknowledged radio deejay Patrick Teoh’s apology over false claims against the company in a Facebook post on July 22.
Pharmaniaga said it was made aware of misleading allegations on a personal account owned by Teoh, which had brought “disrepute to the company”.
It said following an engagement with Teoh, the deejay had since taken down the post and issued a public apology on his page yesterday.
“Although we respect differences of opinion, we do not tolerate slander and false allegations,” it said in a statement.
The company said it maintained high standards of corporate governance and transparency in all its business dealings and would not hesitate to take legal action against claims that affect its integrity.
In his post last month, Teoh was responding to a news report which revealed that Pharmaniaga would be selling 14 million doses of the Sinovac vaccine to interested states and private companies.
He admitted that his post had no foundation to imply that Pharmaniaga was “greedy, ignorant, insensitive and lackadaisical on issues relating to the Covid-19 pandemic”.
He also clarified that Pharmaniaga had not profited from the government in its purchase of the Sinovac vaccine or that it was involved in improper or unlawful dealings.
“I hereby apologise unconditionally to Pharmaniaga Bhd and Pharmaniaga Life Sciences Sdn Bhd,” he said. - FMT
