PETALING JAYA: Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin has arrived at Istana Negara for an audience with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah.
Bernama TV reported that the Bersatu president entered the main gate of the istana at about 10.55am.
Earlier, Attorney-General Idrus Harun was spotted arriving at the palace at 9.30am.
Idrus was among the senior government leaders present for a late-night meeting at Muhyiddin’s house yesterday.
Meanwhile, Inspector-General of Police Acryl Sani Acryl Abdullah and Malaysian Armed Forces chief Affendi Buang were also spotted arriving at the Prime Minister’s Office at Perdana Putra in Putrajaya this morning.
The IGP arrived at 9.20am and was followed by Affendi at 9.30am.
The purpose of their meetings was not immediately clear but follows Umno’s decision to withdraw support for the Perikatan Nasional government.
At least 11 MPs were understood to have made declarations that had been sent to the King that they were withdrawing their support for the prime minister.
While Muhyiddin is scheduled to meet the King for the weekly pre-Cabinet meeting today, it is uncertain whether it is related to the latest political developments.
It will also be the first time that he is meeting the King after the controversy over the revocation of the emergency ordinances. - FMT
