RapidKL will temporarily shut down 34 rail stations in Kuala Lumpur to "protect public safety".
The stations will be closed from 9am to 3pm tomorrow.
Previously, there were plans by a group known as Sekretariat Solidariti Rakyat (SSR) to hold a protest against caretaker prime minister Muhyiddin Yassin.
The protest was called off last night in view of Muhyiddin's decision to resign on Aug 16.
RapidKL has on occasions closed rail stations in the city centre due to street protests, such as during the November 2007 Bersih protest.
The affected stations tomorrow are as follows:
Ampang and Sri Petaling LRT Line
Chan Sow Lin, Pudu, Hang Tuah, Masjid Jamek, Bandaraya, Sultan Ismail and Cheras.
Kelana Jaya LRT Line
Kampung Baru, Dang Wangi, Masjid Jamek, Pasar Seni, KL Sentral, Bangsar and Abdullah Hukum.
Kajang MRT Line
Taman Pertama, Maluri, Cochrane, Tun Razak Exchange, Bukit Bintang, Merdeka, Pasar Seni and Muzium Negara
KL Monorail
All 11 stations.
The last protest organised by SSR in Kuala Lumpur took place on July 31, attracting some 400 people, according to police estimates.
Dubbed the #Lawan protest, protesters had accused the government of mismanaging the country's Covid-19 response.
Meanwhile, in a statement today, the Kuala Lumpur police said they have obtained a court order from a magistrate to bar any procession from the Sogo Department Store or Masid Jamek tomorrow, including the surrounding one-kilometre radius from the area.
“Any party planning to hold a procession and gathering there is also prohibited from doing so, and is warned not to attend, be present or take part in the procession or gathering,” Kuala Lumpur police chief Azmi Abu Kassim said. - Mkini
