Several areas in Sabah and Pahang under EMCO from Aug 16

PETALING JAYA: Several areas in Sabah and Pahang will be placed under an enhanced movement control order (EMCO) from Aug 16 until Aug 29, says senior minister for security Hishammuddin Hussein.

In a statement this evening, he said eight localities in Sabah will be placed under EMCO. They involve two localities in Tawau, namely Kampung Sungai Pukul and Kampung Muhibbah Raya, and two localities in Ranau, namely Kampung Paka Kawiyan and Kampung Matupang.

Other localities are the Excellent Challenger II farm housing in Beluran, Pekan Donggongon in Penampang, Kampung Sembirat Lebak Engad in Kota Belud and Kampung Tuhau in Kudat.

In Pahang, Kampung Orang Asli Terisu, Pos Terisu, in Cameron Highlands, will also go under similar restrictions.

Meanwhile, the EMCO at Kampung Darau, Menggatal, in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, will be extended until Aug 28.

Hishammuddin also said the EMCO at four localities in Sabah will end on Aug 14. They involve four localities in Kota Kinabalu, namely Lorong Kuala Laut Likas, Kampung Warisan, Kampung Rakyat Baru and the Imbas Jaya workers’ quarters.

The EMCO at two localities in Beaufort, namely Lorong 3, Kampung Klias Baru, and Kampung Melulugus, as well as Kampung Tinusa 2 in Sandakan, will end on Aug 15.

In Pahang, the EMCO at two localities in Rompin, namely Bandar Melati and Ladang Senang, will end on Aug 15.

The EMCO at Gugusan Semarak in Kota Damansara, Petaling, Selangor, will also end on Aug 14.

On the arrests, Hishammuddin said the SOP compliance task force ordered 96 premises, comprising businesses, factories and construction sites, to close yesterday for failure to comply with SOPs.

He also said 149 people were arrested yesterday over MCO-related offences, with six remanded. - FMT
