PETALING JAYA: Former youth and sports minister Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman is set to face more charges by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) tomorrow morning.
A source told FMT that the Muar MP will be charged at the Johor Bahru sessions court at 8.30am tomorrow.
It is believed that he will be charged under the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2001 (Amla).
Two weeks ago, Syed Saddiq pleaded not guilty to misappropriating RM1 million belonging to Bersatu Youth at the Kuala Lumpur sessions court.
He was slapped with one charge under Section 405 of the Penal Code for criminal breach of trust (CBT) over the allegation that he had withdrawn RM1 million in party funds from a bank without the consent of the top leadership.
If found guilty, he will face a jail term not exceeding 10 years and whipping, and also be liable to a fine.
Deputy public prosecutor Faridz Gohim Abdullah had said then that the prosecution wanted to transfer Syed Saddiq’s case in Johor Bahru to Kuala Lumpur. - FMT
