Another Umno leader has today resigned from a government-linked position following the party's decision to withdraw support for Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin's Perikatan Nasional administration.
Umno supreme council member Razlan Rafii in a statement announced his resignation as board member of Lembaga Tabung Angkatan Tentera (LTAT).
"I would like to thank Defence Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob who had appointed me to the LTAT board.
"To abide by Umno's decision that has withdrawn support for Muhyiddin's administration, I hereby resign as LTAT board member," Razlan (above) said.
"Umno as a party that upholds the sovereignty of the Malay rulers and prioritises the people will not sacrifice the people's fate currently neglected by the prime minister," he said.
Aside from Razlan, Umno vice-president Mohamed Khaled Nordin had yesterday announced his departure from government-linked Boustead Holdings Bhd where he had held the position of non-executive chairperson since May 1 last year.
On Tuesday, after chairing a virtual Umno supreme council meeting, party president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi reiterated the party's stand to withdraw support for the PN government and Muhyiddin as prime minister.
Zahid also said that he had presented to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong several statutory declarations by Umno MPs who expressed their withdrawal of support for the prime minister.
Ismail Sabri, as deputy prime minister, had yesterday stood beside Muhyiddin when the latter defended his Dewan Rakyat majority and said he was ready to prove it during the September sitting.
Zahid in response said Ismail Sabri must face the consequences for going against the Umno supreme council's decision. - Mkini
