COVID-19 | The Health Ministry's Github data repository reported a total of 324 Covid-19 fatalities yesterday (Sept 18), bringing the cumulative death toll to 23,067.
The highest recorded total was 592 on Sep 11.
From the newly reported deaths, 21.6 percent or 70 died before they could receive treatment at a hospital.
Selangor recorded the highest number of new deaths at 146, making up 45.06 percent of yesterday's fatalities.
The remaining deaths were in Johor (54), Penang (25), Kedah (24), Perak (15), Sabah (13), Kelantan (12), Sarawak (11), Malacca (7), Kuala Lumpur (7), Negeri Sembilan (5) and Pahang (5).
No new deaths were reported in Perlis, Terengganu, Labuan and Putrajaya.
A total of 183 out of the 324 reported deaths happened in the last seven days of which only seven was from yesterday.
The remaining ones were older than a week due to backlog.
An average of 320 Covid-19 deaths was reported daily in the last 30 days. The seven-day average is 378.
As of yesterday, there were 219,359 active Covid-19 cases. This is a reduction of 8.35 percent compared to the 239,351 active infections a week ago.
Previously, the Health Ministry released deaths statistics together with the number of new Covid-19 cases in the evening. This had since changed.
Death statistics are now released the next day by 2am. Malaysiakini reports them in the morning.
