PETALING JAYA: The RM500 Pemerkasa+ assistance for 27,627 e-hailing drivers who have yet to receive it will be paid out from Friday (Sept 10), says Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.
The Transport Minister said that the remaining portion of the assistance was received by the Land Public Transport Agency (APAD) on Sept 3.
" APAD is currently processing the payment through Hong Leong Bank appointed by the Government and the payment will be auto-credited to the bank accounts of the 27,627 drivers," said Dr Wee in a Facebook post on Wednesday (Sept 8).
He added that the Transport Ministry MOT remains committed to ensuring the welfare of e-hailing drivers and hopes that the assistance may bring some relief from the challenges brought on by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Dr Wee said that he acknowledges the concerns raised by the e-hailing driver community which has yet to receive the RM500 one-off assistance under the Pemerkasa+ programme.
He added that based on APAD information, 56,092 e-hailing drivers are eligible to receive the RM500 assistance and said that the agency disbursed the assistance to to 28,465 eligible drivers between 26 July and 6 August.
