I did not hop between parties, Syed Saddiq rebuts Nazri

Former youth and sports minister Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman has rebutted Padang Rengas MP Nazri Abdul Aziz who made him an example of a failed parliamentarian.

Contrary to Nazri's claim, Syed Saddiq pointed out that he did not quit Bersatu to form the Malaysian United Democratic Alliance (Muda), but was instead fired for rejecting the party's support in the formation of the previous PN government.

"When did I (party) hop? I was fired by the party because I rejected the formation of the 'backdoor government'.

"Something that is wrong, I can't be expected to follow blindly. I have principles, I have the people's trust to protect," the former Bersatu Youth chief tweeted today.

Saddiq also shared a report that quoted Nazri as accusing him of being a failed parliamentarian and youth leader.

"I see like Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman, to me, he is a failure. There hasn't been anything yet but he is already 'hopping' here and there.

"If previously he was with Dr Mahathir Mohamad, just stay with him. Why run away from Bersatu to be an Independent?" Nazri asked.

Saddiq, a founding member of Bersatu, left the party in July last year along with Mahathir and several other MPs to form an Independent bloc in Parliament.

While Mahathir founded Pejuang, Syed Saddiq instead announced the formation of Muda along with a group of youth activists. - Mkini
