PM lauds Maryam's innovations, prays for more success in the future

Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob has lauded 11-year-old Maryam Muzamir for her success in winning three gold medals at the 6th International Invention, Innovation Competition (iCAN) in Toronto, Canada, last month.

Impressed with the achievements of the Year-Five student of Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Perempuan Methodist, Kuantan, Pahang, Ismail Sabri said on his Facebook account that he prayed that Maryam would continue to forge more success in the future.

Maryam last month won three awards at the International Invention Innovation Competition (iCAN) in Toronto, Canada for converting ground shrimp and seashells, that would otherwise become food waste, into livestock feed.

Maryam not only edged out 600 other contestants from 70 countries at the sixth iCAN competition but is also the youngest winner in the competition.

Her work was also featured internationally when popular television host James Corden praised her during his Sept 23 show which had focussed on the issue of climate change and sustainability.

“Let me tell you, you might have heard about this girl, it’s absolutely incredible - Maryam Muzamir. She’s an 11-year-old girl in Malaysia.

“She found a use for a moon food waste - seafood shells and she makes those shells into a new, sustainable, healthy livestock feed,” Corden said. - Mkini
