PETALING JAYA: The health ministry has reported 19,198 Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours, while 20,980 patients have recovered from infections, bringing the total number of those discharged to 1,721,713.
Sarawak recorded another record high in new infections at 5,291. The previous record high was 3,743 yesterday.
Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the total number of infections in the country now stands at 1,979,698
There are 1,298 patients being treated in intensive care, of whom 960 were confirmed to be Covid-19 positive and 338 were suspected of being infected.
Meanwhile, 744 patients required respiratory assistance, with 444 patients Covid-19 positive and the 300 others suspected of being positive.
Selangor had the next highest number of new cases at 2,347, Johor (2,110), Sabah (1,717), Kelantan (1,435), Penang (1,309), Kedah (1,256) Perak (1,119), Terengganu (930), Pahang (584), Kuala Lumpur (376), Melaka (340), Negeri Sembilan (283), Perlis (67), Putrajaya (32) and Labuan (3).
There were 19,193 local infections today, involving 17,428 Malaysians and 1,765 foreigners, as well as five imported cases.
Of the total cases reported, only 253 were in Category 3, 4 or 5 at the point of diagnosis, or 1.3% of new patients.
Noor Hisham said Covid-19 ICU beds nationwide were 78% occupied while 75% of non-ICU beds were in use as of 5pm on Sept 11.
The country’s Covid-19 infectivity rate remained at 0.99, with Sarawak having the highest R-nought level with 1.15. Others with R-noughts higher than 1 include Terengganu (1.09), Johor (1.05), Perak (1.05), Pahang (1.04), Penang (1.03), Perlis (1.02) and Kelantan (1.02).
Labuan had an R-nought of zero. - FMT
