Umno does not want to be linked with a "backdoor government" or one that "fell through the roof" because it wasn't responsible for the backdoor move, said Umno chief Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
"It was not Umno who pried the roof open or left the back door ajar. So, don't link us with this type of rubbish," he said while delivering his keynote address at the Umno annual general assembly today.
Pakatan Harapan has labelled the Perikatan Nasional (PN) government once led by Muhyiddin Yassin as a "backdoor government" following the Sheraton Move, which ousted the 22-month Harapan administration.
Bersatu then formed the PN government through cooperation with Umno, PAS, GPS and parties from Sabah.
Zahid also said Umno is not an insignificant party, nor was it power-hungry as alleged by others.
"Umno is not an insignificant party. It is not a lame duck. Umno and BN are not power-hungry, as accused by others. We don't give out money to remain in power," he added.
