PETALING JAYA: Police have discovered that the cats found killed on the Universiti Malaya campus recently were attacked by a pack of stray dogs, amid speculation that it was due to animal cruelty.
Kuala Lumpur police chief Rusdi Isa said police reached the conclusion after reviewing CCTV footage of the surrounding areas.
He said the veterinary services department also confirmed that the injuries on the cats were caused by wild animal attacks.
“Police received three separate reports regarding this matter on Dec 17, 20 and 21. There were no witnesses to the incidents,” Berita Harian reported him as saying.
Rusdi advised against speculating on the matter to avoid causing concern among the public.
It was reported that social media users were outraged after seeing pictures of the cats’ carcasses, with many alleging that it was due to animal cruelty. - FMT
