The Dewan Negara today passed the Supply (Budget) Bill 2025 after receiving unanimous support from all members of the Senate.
Dewan Negara president Awang Bemee Awang Basah announced this when temporarily chairing the senate sitting today.
The bill was approved after six days of debate and winding up at the committee level, starting on Dec 4, for each ministry involved.
Earlier, the Supply Bill 2025 was tabled for the second reading by Finance Minister II Amir Hamzah Azizan.
The Budget 2025 tabled by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim on Oct 18 involves an allocation of RM421 billion, which is the largest budget ever presented in history and is strategically aligned with the Madani Economy framework.
The budget focuses on attracting high-quality investments, driving business opportunities, implementing projects for the well-being of the people and not affecting their ability to obtain essential goods and services.
The Dewan Negara sitting continues on Monday.
