In an apparent jibe at the government, MCA president Wee Ka Siong said someone “kantoi” (got busted) after the legal team of former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak submitted a letter from the Pahang palace to the court today.
Wee (above) noted that the question had been a simple one, with an easy answer, and that it has since been proven the supplementary decree is “real and valid”.
“If it exists, say it exists. If it doesn’t, then say it doesn’t - just be straightforward.
“So, what now? Who should be blamed? See, I told you, but you didn’t want to listen. Now you’ve ‘kantoi’.
“Malu apa? Malu apa? (What’s there to be ashamed of?)” asked Wee repeatedly in a short video clip posted on his social media pages.
In the video, Wee was seen enjoying tea before making the comments.
Meanwhile, Umno Youth chief Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh questioned who had kept the decree hidden.
“The question now is who kept the decree hidden? We ask that the government answer,” he said in a separate statement.
Royal addendum confirmed
Earlier today, Najib’s counsel Muhammad Shafee Abdullah presented a letter to the Court of Appeal, confirming that the previous Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah had issued a royal addendum dated Jan 29, 2024 for Najib.
The letter, signed by the Comptroller of the Royal Household for the Sultan of Pahang, Ahmad Khirrizal Ab Rahman, confirmed that Sultan Abdullah ordered Najib to serve the remainder of his jail term under house arrest.
The Court of Appeal subsequently ruled in Najib’s favour, ordering the matter to be reverted to the Kuala Lumpur High Court for a hearing on the merits of the judicial review.
On Dec 14 last year, Wee criticised Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s refusal to confirm whether the royal addendum existed.
Anwar had previously told the Dewan Rakyat that he could not answer the question due to a parliamentary rule against sub judice discussions and because the current king had not granted permission.
