PKR Youth deputy chief Kamil Munim has confirmed his candidacy for the youth wing’s top position in the upcoming party elections.
He said his decision was driven by the need to strengthen the youth wing and ensure a “regeneration” process starting at the grassroots level, Utusan Malaysia reported.
“I will offer myself to (contest) as PKR Youth chief and hope to be given the opportunity to lead the wing,” he was quoted as saying after a breaking-of-fast event last night.
The youth chief position is currently held by Adam Adli, who also serves as the deputy youth and sports minister in the Cabinet.
On March 8, Adam confirmed his intention to contest for a seat on the PKR central leadership council in the upcoming party elections.
Kamil is currently Anwar’s political secretary in his capacity as finance minister. He has received backing from several PKR Youth state chapters to be the next youth chief.
The PKR division-level elections are scheduled for April 11-20, followed by central leadership elections on May 24. - FMT
