Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) has launched the VisitKL portal and mobile application, a digital hub designed to promote the capital’s tourism sector.
Mayor Maimunah Sharif said the platform provides comprehensive information on iconic attractions, cultural events, activities, and local experiences to enhance visitor engagement.
“The launch of this portal is among DBKL’s proactive steps in supporting Malaysia as the 2025 Asean chair and preparations towards Visit Malaysia Year 2026,” she said at the launch ceremony at Mayor’s Courtyard today.
Maimunah said the initiative incorporates DBKL’s culture, arts, tourism, and sports department’s calendar of events, ensuring that visitors have access to the latest information year-round.
She said DBKL also supports the tourism, arts and culture ministry’s goal of making Kuala Lumpur a major tourism hub, showcasing art and heritage.
To enhance infrastructure and quality of life, DBKL has formed two special committees: the Urban Beautification Action Committee and the Urban Wellbeing Action Committee.
Maimunah said DBKL is also developing the Kuala Lumpur Tourism Action Plan, aligned with the DBKL Strategic Plan 2030 and Kuala Lumpur Structure Plan 2040 (KLSP2040), to drive economic growth through sustainable tourism.
The DBKL Strategic Plan 2030 aims to create a harmonious city for all through physical and socio-economic development programmes, while the KLSP2040 will guide the development of Kuala Lumpur over the next 15 years.
Maimunah said DBKL is confident that Kuala Lumpur will continue to grow as a world-class tourism destination with the launch of the portal and application.
She also urged the public and industry players to leverage the platform to boost Kuala Lumpur’s competitiveness, tourism appeal, and global ranking. - FMT
